Candidate filing starts July 18 for Precinct 3 & 4 election, July 01, 2020

Candidates for Precinct 3 & 4 District Director of the High Plains Underground Water Conservation District (HPWD) can file applications for place on the ballot beginning July 18 and ending August 17, 2020.

District Director Precinct 3 consists of Bailey County, the portion of Castro County within the district, and Parmer County. Mike Beauchamp of Friona is the current director.

District Director Precinct 4 consists of the portions of Armstrong, Deaf Smith, Potter, and Randall Counties within the district. Lynn Tate of Amarillo is the current director.

The Texas Secretary of State Elections Division issued an August 3, 2020 clarification about filing methods for candidate applications for place on the ballot.

  • Applications for the two respective offices may be filed Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 12 noon and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the High Plains Water District office, 2930 Avenue Q, Lubbock, TX 79411-2499. The documentation will be accepted by hand delivery or mail at the above address.
  • In addition, applications for place on the ballot can be submitted by FAX to (806) 762-1834 or by email to elections@hpwd.org.

All applications for place on the ballot must be received at the HPWD office by 5:00 p.m., August 17.

Candidates for HPWD District Director must meet all eligibility requirement for public office found in Chapter 141.001 of the Texas Election Code.
